Purple Cake Day 2012

We made purple cup cakes on Purple Cake Day and we sold them to the rest of the school to raise money for the charities that PCD are supporting this year. One of the charities is to help fund a school in Nepal. We also made prayer flags, prayer mandalas and a quilt of good wishes. You can see lots of photos and the quilt in the Junior Roost.

Welcome to Term One!

We have had a very busy term in Tui Class 2012.
Some of us were in Tui Class last year and some of us are new to Tui Class. We have enjoyed getting to know each other and we have welcomed three people who are new to our school as well as our class - Josephine, Evie and Lucas.
We started the term by having an update what happend to the money we sent to Nepal last year.

Anna Seifried came and showed us photos of the hot water shower that she bought for the children in the orphanage.

Talent Quest

We are a very talented bunch in Tui Class! We had six people enter into the grand finals plus we sang "The Grumpy Dog" song as a class. Brooke danced the Highland Fling, Isaac told very funny jokes, Emily, David and Dominic sang a song and Dominic played the guitar and Lydia danced the Irish Reel. Congratulations to all of you. We had an awesome time and saw lots of other talented people from other classes.

Helping children in Nepal

We had a toy sale at school. We recycled old toys by bringing them to school and selling them to other people so that they would get some fun with them. We raised nearly $80. We gave the money to a lady in our Parish who was traveling to Nepal to work in an orphanage. She was going to use the money to buy things that the children needed. We sent them this photo so that they would know that we are thinking about them.

Live Simply Day

Today we had only plain, boiled rice for lunch. We wanted to see how it felt to live like people who are not able to have yummy lunch box lunches or Subway for lunch. We are really thankful that we have enough to eat everyday.

Book Week

Today we had a hat parade at school. We had to make a hat that a character from a book would wear. We had the extra challenge of making it out of recycled materials. Everyone did a really good job. Oliver was the winner in Tui Class. He made a hat for Mr Willy Wonka. We had a lot of fun parading around in our hats and then we had a Literacy Quiz.
