The Solar Eclipse
Today at Saint Paul's School we had an eclipse.
We got to have a look at the eclipse with a special type of glasses. The moon blocks little bits of the sun. It goes a bit darker and colder and when the eclipse finishes it gets hotter and goes back to normal. I forgot to tell you that don't look at the sun even though you think it is OK, but it isn't good for your eyes. That is why you have to wear the special glasses.
Today it looked really cool and the sun looked orange when you looked through the special glasses. Tysen

Zeebong- teller of tales!
The Visit of Zeebong
On Friday a storyteller
named Zeebong came to visit Saint Paul’s School. He told lots of exciting
stories to Tui class and they were fantastic. We loved it! He used a colourful quilt
to retell his stories.
The quilt was beautiful. Some
lucky people got to choose a pattern on the quilt and he told a story about
that pattern. He chose different people to act out the stories and he made them
sound so funny. Each story had different actors and they got to act out
different parts. We couldn’t choose the story we loved the best. It was sad to
say goodbye.
We hope he will come
again.

Book Week
Book Parades are fun!
It is a parade of a book character. We had our book parade on Friday at our school on the Junior Court. The classess went around the court. You dress up as a book character. The classes went around the court in time with the music and then the teachers chose the best characters. A book parade is very fun!

Book Parades are very awesome!
A book parade is when you dress up as a book character. The book parade was in the morning and out at the Junior Court on Friday. You have to dress up as a book character and this year it is a Margaret Mahy book character. I would lke another book parade next year.

Rain Coats!
We went to Rabbit Island for our school cross country races. After we had done our races and eaten our lunch we got into groups. We were given some technology challenges. One of the challenges was to create a waterproof covering that would stand up to the wind. We had six plastic bags and a roll of sellotape to make the rain covering. One person had to be the model for the rain covering. Here ate some photos of the rain coverings, Josh and Lydia are the models.

Feast of the Ascencion
On Friday 18 May it was Tui Classes turn to present a liturgy to the whole school. We re- told the story of Jesus returning to his Father in heaven after his work here on Earth was finished. It is now our turn to carry on the work Jesus began when he came to Earth to show us how to live in loving kindness.
Technology Challenge
We have been learning how to solve problems using the technology process. We had to create something that would keep us dry from the rain using only an A4 sized plastic sheet, four straws and a small piece of blutac. After we had done it the first time we reviewed what we had done and then went back and improved on our original design. We had heaps of fun.

Clay at the Suter Art Gallery
We spent a morning at the Suter Art Gallery. Esther showed us how to make a clay tea light holder. We all made one and Esther fired them in her kiln to make them hard and ready for painting.
Purple Cake Day 2012
We made purple cup cakes on Purple Cake Day and we sold them to the rest of the school to raise money for the charities that PCD are supporting this year. One of the charities is to help fund a school in Nepal. We also made prayer flags, prayer mandalas and a quilt of good wishes. You can see lots of photos and the quilt in the Junior Roost.
Welcome to Term One!
We have had a very busy term in Tui Class 2012.
Some of us were in Tui Class last year and some of us are new to Tui Class. We have enjoyed getting to know each other and we have welcomed three people who are new to our school as well as our class - Josephine, Evie and Lucas.
We started the term by having an update what happend to the money we sent to Nepal last year.
Anna Seifried came and showed us photos of the hot water shower that she bought for the children in the orphanage.
